Payouts, fees, and what stays frozen on your orders

Last updated September 2026

Open any order from Seller orders to see a breakdown of your slice: line items, your shipping charge (postage + packaging), platform commission, card processing on your slice, and in-app label cost when applicable. Your estimated Connect payout is gross minus those deductions. Packaging charged to the buyer stays in your payout.

Current marketplace commission

The default platform commission rate is currently 5% with a maximum of $50.00 per unit (each card or product unit). Operators can change both values in platform settings. Existing orders keep the rate and cap that applied when the buyer checked out.

Example: a $2000 card at 5% would be $100.00 without a cap. With the current $50.00 maximum the commission is $50.00. For quantity greater than one, the per-unit fee is calculated separately and then multiplied by quantity.

Understanding the earnings breakdown

Your order page shows amounts for your slice only (your line items and the shipping the buyer paid toward your items).

What each line means

  • Line items subtotal: Sum of your item line totals before tax (quantity × price per line).
  • Your shipping: Total shipping the buyer paid for your slice (published band postage frozen at checkout, plus packaging when postage applied).
  • Gross (commission basis): Line items subtotal plus your shipping. Platform commission is calculated from your merchandise units (with the per-unit cap when enabled) plus the rate on shipping. Tax is not included in this gross.
  • Est. buyer tax share (your slice): The buyer paid sales tax on the whole checkout. For transparency we show the portion attributed to your slice, using the same ratio as below: your gross divided by the order's pre-tax merchandise-plus-shipping total. This is informational. It is not subtracted from your Connect payout line.
  • Card processing (your slice): Your share of Stripe's fee on the buyer's card payment (same ratio: your gross ÷ whole order pre-tax subtotal + shipping). Deducted from your Connect payout.
  • USPS label (estimated / deducted): Before you create your label, an estimated deduction appears from checkout postage. When you create the label in-app, the platform pays USPS and deducts the final label cost from your payout. Oversized packages and rates that would leave a $0 payout are refused.
  • Packaging (in your payout): Packaging portion of shipping stays with you to cover supplies.
  • Platform commission: Binder to Market's fee on your slice (rate and per-unit cap locked at order time). Merchandise uses the lesser of the percentage and the per-unit maximum when a max is set. Shipping uses the percentage only.
  • Estimated Connect payout: Gross minus platform commission, your card-processing share, and label cost (estimated before ship, final after you create the label). Packaging is not deducted again.

Single-seller example (illustrative)

Suppose you are the only seller: line subtotal $30, shipping $6.15 ($5.40 postage + $0.75 packaging), Stripe card fee $1.43, commission 5%, and you bought an in-app label for $5.40. At typical list prices this order stays under any per-unit cap, so the fee is simply the rate on gross.

  • Gross = $30 + $6.15 = $36.15.
  • Platform commission ≈ 5% × $36.15 = $1.81.
  • USPS label (deducted) = −$5.40.
  • Card processing (your slice) = −$1.43.
  • Estimated Connect payout ≈ $36.15 − commission − $5.40 − $1.43 (packaging stays in the payout).
  • Packaging ($0.75) is included in gross and not deducted again. It helps cover packaging supplies you provide.

Multi-seller example (illustrative)

Two sellers on one checkout. Each seller's gross (commission basis) is their line subtotal plus their shipping: Seller A $40, Seller B $60. The combined pre-tax basis used for allocation is $100. Buyer tax on the whole order $7.00. Stripe's processing fee on the single card payment $2.90. Commission is 5% on each seller's own merchandise units (and shipping), subject to the per-unit maximum when enabled.

Seller A sees:

  • Gross (commission basis) = $40.
  • Share of the order pre-tax total = $40 ÷ $100 = 40%.
  • Est. buyer tax share = $7.00 × 40% = $2.80 (informational).
  • Card processing = $2.90 × 40% = −$1.16.
  • Platform commission ≈ 5% × $40 = −$2.00 when under the per-unit cap.
  • Estimated Connect payout ≈ gross − commission − card share (minus label if in-app).

Each seller's card-processing share is deducted from that seller's Connect transfer. Tax shares remain informational only.

When you get paid

Funds for your portion are released when you buy an in-app USPS label (within three business days). Until then, pre-ship cancellations can refund the buyer quickly. After shipment, Stripe sends your net amount to your Connect account according to normal Stripe timing.

Commission rate and per-item maximum

The platform commission percentage and per-unit dollar maximum on your slice are locked in when the buyer places the order. If marketplace defaults or your negotiated rate change later, existing orders keep the values that applied at checkout for that slice. Operators who need uncapped percentage-only fees can set the max commission per item to $0 in platform settings.

Card processing (your slice)

The buyer pays once by card. Stripe charges processing on that payment. Your order page shows your slice of that fee and deducts it from your Connect payout along with platform commission and in-app label cost.

Addresses and labels on old orders

Ship-to, bill-to, and the seller name shown on an order are snapshots from checkout. Updating your profile or deleting a saved address does not rewrite receipts or seller order packing views for orders already placed.
